About Fileora

Fileora is a collection of free online tools for the everyday file jobs that shouldn't need special software: compressing a photo so a form will accept it, merging a few PDFs into one document, converting a video's audio to MP3, counting the words in an essay or generating a strong password.

Our tagline sums up the idea: every file tool, free and private.

Why we built Fileora

Most online file converters work the same way. You upload your file to their server, wait in a queue, and download the result. That model has three problems. It is slow, because large files have to travel across the internet twice. It is limited, because servers cost money, so free plans come with daily caps, size limits and watermarks. And it asks you to trust a stranger with your documents, which is a real concern when the file is a passport scan, a bank statement or a signed contract.

Modern web browsers are powerful enough to do this work themselves. Fileora is built on that simple observation.

How it works

When you open a tool on Fileora, the code that does the processing is loaded into your browser tab. When you choose a file, it is read from your device into your browser's memory, processed there, and offered back to you as a download. Your file is never sent to our servers, because there is no server-side processing at all.

For heavier tasks we use well-established open-source libraries compiled to run in the browser: PDF libraries for merging and compressing documents, the canvas engine built into every browser for images, and a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg for audio and video. Some of these components are downloaded the first time you use the tool that needs them. These downloads contain the program only and never include your files.

A useful side effect: once a tool has loaded, many of them keep working even if your internet connection drops.

What we will and won't build

We are steadily adding tools across PDF, image, video and audio, text, calculators, developer utilities, social media helpers and, soon, tools made specifically for Urdu and Hindi.

We deliberately do not build tools that download videos or music from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or other platforms, or anything designed to get around copyright protection. Fileora is for working with files that you own or have the right to use.

How Fileora is funded

Fileora is free to use with no account and no watermark. To pay for development and hosting, some pages show a small number of clearly labelled advertisements from Google AdSense. We keep ads away from the tool itself so they never get in the way of your work. You can read exactly what this involves in our Privacy Policy.
