Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Fileora ("Fileora", "we", "us") collects when you use fileora.tools (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language.

The short version

• Your files never leave your device. Every tool on Fileora processes files inside your web browser. We do not upload, receive, store or look at the files you use with our tools.
• We use Google Analytics to understand how many people use the Site and which tools are popular.
• We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show you ads, including personalised ads where you have agreed to them.
• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not require an account.

1. Files you process with our tools

When you select or drop a file into a Fileora tool, the file is read by code running in your browser and processed in your device's memory. The result is created on your device and saved through your browser's normal download feature. Neither the original file nor the result is transmitted to us or to any third party.

Some tools need extra processing components the first time you use them, such as an audio/video engine or text-recognition data. Your browser downloads these components from our servers or from a public content delivery network. These requests fetch program code only and contain no information about your files.

Text you type into our tools (for example in the word counter or password generator) is handled the same way: it stays in your browser and is not sent to us.

2. Information collected automatically

Server and hosting logs

Our Site is hosted by Vercel Inc. Like almost every website, when your browser requests a page our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time of the request. This information is used to deliver the Site, keep it secure and diagnose errors. It is kept for a limited period according to our hosting provider's retention policy.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site: for example how many people visit, which tools they use, which pages they arrive from and roughly where in the world they are. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect this information. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses.

When you use a tool, we also count that event: the tool’s name, the page language and whether you downloaded, copied or shared a result. File names, file contents and the text you type are never sent.

We use this information only in aggregate, to decide which tools to improve and build next. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by declining analytics cookies where we ask for your consent.

3. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We display advertisements provided by Google AdSense to keep Fileora free. In connection with these ads:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this Site and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
• If you opt out of personalised ads, you may still see ads, but they will be based on the content of the page rather than your browsing history.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before personalised ads or analytics cookies are used, through a consent message shown when you first visit. You can change your choice at any time.

4. Cookies and local storage

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. "Local storage" is a similar browser feature that lets a website remember a setting on your device. The Site uses:

• Your theme preference (light or dark mode), saved in your browser's local storage under the name theme. This never leaves your device.
• Invoice generator details. When you download an invoice, the invoice generator saves your business details, logo, currency, tax rate, notes and last invoice number in local storage under fileora:invoice-generator:v1, so the form is ready next time. Client details are not saved. This information stays on your device, and you can remove it with the "Forget saved details" button or by clearing your browser's site data.
• Google Analytics cookies, such as _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier, used to distinguish visitors and sessions. These typically last up to two years.
• Google advertising cookies, such as __gads, __gpi and cookies set on Google-owned domains, used to show, measure and limit how often you see ads. Their lifetimes vary.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies will not stop our tools from working.

5. Information you send us

If you contact us by email, including through the contact form (which opens your own email app), we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the contents of your message. We use this only to reply to you and to improve the Site, and we delete correspondence when it is no longer needed.

6. How we use information and our legal bases

We use the information described above to provide and secure the Site, to understand and improve how it is used, to show advertising that funds the Site, and to reply to messages.

If you are in the EEA or UK, we rely on these legal bases under the GDPR: our legitimate interests in running a secure and reliable website (hosting logs); your consent for analytics and personalised advertising cookies; and our legitimate interests in responding to messages you send us.

7. Sharing information

We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with the service providers described in this policy (our hosting provider, Google Analytics and Google AdSense), who process it to provide their services, or where we are required to by law.

Some of these providers are based in the United States, so information may be transferred outside your country. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time.

California residents: under the CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. To opt out of personalised advertising, use the Google Ads Settings link above or enable the Global Privacy Control signal in your browser.

Because we don't have accounts and never receive your files, we usually hold very little information that can identify you. To make a request, email hello@fileora.tools. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

Processing your files in your own browser is the strongest protection we can offer: files that are never uploaded cannot be leaked from our servers. The Site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. No website can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we handle.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add a new service. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
