What people measure in inches
Screens. Phones, laptops, monitors and TVs are sold by diagonal size in inches almost everywhere. A 13.3 inch laptop has a 33.78 cm diagonal, a 15.6 inch one 39.62 cm, and a 55 inch TV 139.7 cm. Measure your shelf or wall in centimeters and compare before buying.
Clothing. Jeans use waist and leg length in inches: a 32 waist is 81.28 cm and a 34 leg is 86.36 cm. Belts, shirt collars and hat sizes from American and British brands follow the same habit.
Luggage and furniture. Airline cabin limits are often written as 22 × 14 × 9 inches, which is 55.88 × 35.56 × 22.86 cm. Furniture from US stores lists width, depth and height in inches too.
Photos and paper. A 4 × 6 inch print is 10.16 × 15.24 cm, and US Letter paper is 8.5 × 11 inches, or 21.59 × 27.94 cm. If you are sizing a picture for print, the image resizer lets you set exact pixel dimensions.
Why use Fileora's inches to cm converter
It opens ready to use, gives the exact figure instead of a rounded one, and shows how the answer was reached. It runs in your browser on any phone or computer, with no sign-up, and what you type is never stored.
Going the other way? Use the cm to inches converter. For longer distances there is a meters to feet converter, and the unit converter covers everything else.
