How to create your signature
- Choose how to sign: Draw, Type or Upload.
- Make your signature. Draw it in the box with your mouse, finger or stylus, type your name and tap a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature on paper.
- Adjust it. Pick an ink colour (black, dark blue, red or any colour you like) and, for a drawn signature, set the pen thickness. Use Undo to remove the last stroke or Clear to start again.
- Check the preview. Your signature appears on a checked background, which shows that the background is transparent.
- Press Download PNG, or Download SVG for a drawn signature.
Features
- Three ways to sign: draw freehand, type your name, or upload a photo or scan.
- Smooth strokes. Every sample from your pen or finger is used and joined with gentle curves, so fast movements don't look jagged.
- Four handwriting styles for typed signatures, previewed with your own name.
- Ink colours: black, dark blue and red, plus a colour picker for anything else.
- Adjustable pen thickness with a slider, applied to the whole signature.
- Undo and clear for drawn signatures.
- Paper removal for photos that adapts to off-white or greyish paper, with soft edges so the ink doesn't look cut out.
- Automatic trimming. Empty space around the signature is removed, leaving a small margin.
- Transparent PNG at high resolution, and an SVG of drawn signatures.
Why use Fileora to make your signature
A signature is personal, so it shouldn't pass through someone else's server. Fileora creates it entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, nothing is saved, and there's no account to create. There's no watermark on the download either, and it works just as well on a phone as on a computer.
Once you have your signature, you can put it straight onto a document with Sign PDF, which uses the same drawing, typing and upload options. To add it to a quote or bill, the invoice generator lets you include your business details alongside it. If you need your signature as text for a web page or email template, image to Base64 converts the PNG into a data URL.
Tips for a signature that looks natural
Draw with confidence. Signatures look most natural when written in one quick movement, just as on paper. Slow, careful drawing tends to wobble. If the first attempt isn't right, press Clear and try again; most people get a good result within a few tries.
Use the full width. The drawing area is wide on purpose. Signing large and letting the tool scale it down gives smoother curves than signing small in a corner. The guide line near the bottom helps you keep the signature level.
Choose ink that matches the document. Black is the safest choice. Dark blue is popular because it shows at a glance that a printout was signed rather than photocopied. Keep red for corrections or annotations.
Photograph paper signatures well. Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen, then photograph it from directly above in daylight, without shadows. If some ink disappears after background removal, the photo is probably too light or blurry; try again with a darker pen, or switch removal off and crop the image first with crop image.
Where you can use your signature image
A transparent PNG signature can be placed in Word and Google Docs documents, PDF forms, email signatures, letters, certificates, quotes and delivery notes. Because the background is transparent, the signature sits cleanly on top of lines, stamps and coloured letterheads without a white box around it.
Keep your signature file somewhere private. Anyone who has the image could paste it onto a document, so avoid sharing it publicly or leaving it in shared folders.
